About Our School

Nevada Sage Waldorf School is a Nursery – Pre-Kindergarten – Grades K-8 independent, non-sectarian school, dedicated to providing an education that enlivens the whole child with rich experiences. Our school is a community of children, teachers, parents, trustees, families, and friends who embrace the joy of learning. With our daily and weekly rhythms, along with seasonal festivals, we celebrate and accentuate the passage of time with beauty, meaning, and purpose.

Strong and vibrant school community.

A group of dedicated parents who unified their vision to bring Waldorf education to the Truckee Meadows in 2000. We began our early childhood program in the home of our first teacher, moved to a small house in 2003, then to a larger campus in 2005, and expanded again to our current campus in fall 2014.

Our school is the first Waldorf school in Nevada.

We are proud to be among 1,000 Waldorf schools worldwide that are located in 83 countries.  While each Waldorf school is unique and operates independently, we are all guided by the same core principles, developmentally appropriate curricula, and similar teaching methods. Waldorf curriculum was developed by Rudolf Steiner (1861-1925) and is based on his studies of the developmental stages of childhood. Waldorf education is the fastest-growing private educational movement in the world.

Mission Statement

Our unique approach to education, based on the work of Rudolf Steiner, provides rigorous learning experiences that engage the mind, enliven the imagination, and honor the spiritual development of each child. Our rich curriculum lays the foundation for each student to become a confident, creative, and critical thinker who is ready to take the next step toward a life of meaning and purpose.

“Receive the children in reverence,
Educate them with love,
Send them forth in freedom.”

– Rudolf Steiner
